SEPTEMBER 1998 - MAY 1999 PART 2

Cambridge:

I couldn't believe that weather. It was around middle of November and I wear just a T-shirt and jacket. The day we went to Cambridge was utterly fabulous. It didn't take longer than 2 hours and something and we got to Cambridge.

It is much better to take a car because the public transportation, coaches and trains cost fortune. There were 4 of us in the car and we didn't pay more than 4 Quid each. To compare a one way off peak train ticket from Maidstone to London costs 10 Pounds. That was really cheap.

I wouldn't think Cambridge colleges are so beautiful. Look at that. We didn't get inside but maybe we would have been disappointed after everything we'd seen outside. I'd heard punting was very popular there so we rented one.

There were loads of other trips for example Leed's Castle which was 10 miles from Maidstone, Rochester = Charles Dickens festival, Hastings, Brighton, London but I have pics just from Leed's Castle, Rochester and some pictures with friends because I was stupid and left my camera at home after Xmas and my mum bring it to me in April.

Leed's Castle:

Leed's Castle is a great castle which isn't far from Maidstone. The best thing is that there a public footpaths across the gardens so you can get in without paying. There were some guys who kept telling us we are not allowed to go there but according to their laws they have to let you in. You should step aside from the path but no one will control you anyway so this is a good trick to get to all the gardens.

Unfortunately we couldn't get inside the castle but never mind we enjoyed in outside as well. There is a big garden with golf course, cave, maze, cages with various birds and botanical garden.

Rochester:

In was sometime in December. I can't remember which day but in was the day Charles Dickens was born. There is a festival each year. It was the only time I saw snow in England that year. Actually, at all. And it didn't mind it wasn't natural one.

I can remember that there was a fair there as well. But that was a different one from what I know from the Czech Republic. In my country there are just gypsies running the merry-go-rounds and selling typical fair stuff. We liked it as everything looked like in Charles Dickens' times.

I gotta write something here. You don't need to read it. I found out it looks really silly when there are just pictures and nothing written. I think this is enough so you can click on the forward arrow to see some more pictures.
